The Society of Teaching Physics is pleased to announce the late People’s Professor, PhD. Pham Huu Tong, a member of the VLVN Association, belongs to the Physics Department Branch, Hanoi University of Education, and has just been posthumously awarded the 2024 Dedication Award by the Vietnam Physics Association for his continuous, positive contribution and dedication to Vietnamese Physics.
Some typical contributions of People’s Artist, Professor, PhD. Pham Huu Tong:
– Participate in compiling undergraduate and postgraduate training programs and textbooks
– Instructing PhD students to successfully defend 10 PhD theses.
– Main guidance for 40 successfully defended Master’s theses.
– Training 10 high quality student courses.
– Successfully implemented 5 scientific research projects at State, Ministry, and National University levels
– Published 40 books, textbooks, and scientific articles
– Building a scientific and practical theoretical basis for the major of Physics Theory and Teaching Methods in Vietnam.
These contributions have been cited and applied by many researchers, lecturers, graduate students, and graduate students in scientific research as well as by high school teachers in teaching, contributing to innovating and improving the quality of teacher professional development as well as the quality of physics education.
People’s Teacher, Professor, PhD. Pham Huu Tong has held a number of working positions:
– Vice Chairman of the Council for interdisciplinary Professorships of Education – Psychology (2002 – 2008).
– Vice Chairman of the National Council for Physics Textbook Evaluation.
– Member of the Physics Department Council.
– In charge of organizing and teaching a group of bilingual Francophone students, including 7 graduates who were transferred to PhD in the French Republic and successfully defended their PhD theses.
– Head of the Department of physics education Methods, Faculty of Physics, Hanoi University of Pedagogy.
– Deputy Head of Physics Department, Hanoi University of Pedagogy.
Contributions of Prof.Dr. Pham Huu Tong has been recognized by the government:
– Awarded the title of Professor (1996);
– Awarded the title of People’s Teacher (2010)
